Love Park, Philadelphia, October 1, 2009, 12.30 PM.

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month begins today.  I would venture to say that almost everyone knows someone affected by this disease.  Early detection is key.  Spread the word.

What a symbol! The pink image in a public water feature is all that is required to make a positive statement. In "love park" adds to the affect. This disease affects 1000:2 women

According to reports, every 1000 women aged 50, two will have had breast cancer diagnosed. About 15 will have had a diagnosis before the age of 50. This is a significant concern for the population as its affects are compounded economically as women reduce their contribution to the work force, psychological stress on family members whilst living with the disease, and a high proportion of women who have not received early treatment have a high risk of re-occurrence and death.
