That's why I was interested to learn yesterday that FDA launched a Twitter page (that is their Twitter avatar up there). With all of the product recalls due to the salmonella outbreak tied to products that contain peanut butter (nearly 900 since the outbreak!), the FDA began tweeting to alert the public about which products are affected.
Smart move on the FDA's part. And now I can see a good use for Twitter in communications.

If you have a reason to "follow" someone or some entity via Twitter then this is a wonderful mass communications tool. Could be good for GSK as well if the information conveyed is helpful.
This is really good news. I wonder who has been dragging the FDA into the 21st century?
I too had been dubious about Twitter but took more notice when the British Government (on the Number 10 Downing Street website) started to use it. No 10 now has Flickr, Twitter and YouTube channels.
I have also been really impressed with the way that the Obama Administration has been using new media on the White House website.
Once these sorts of organisations start to use Flickr, YouTube and Twitter, you know that mainstream is not too far away!
